Frasers Hospitality is looking for a Compliance Officer to join the team at Fraser Suites, Abuja. As Compliance Officer, you will oversee compliance procedures that guarantee agreement with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This involves staying current on regulatory changes, advising management on potential risks, training employees, and establishing controls and procedures to maintain ethical conduct and organisational integrity. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on teamwork, standards, and guest experience.
What you will be doing as Compliance Officer:
- Conduct regular audits to identify potential weaknesses and non-compliance situations.
- Communicate with employees to ensure everyone understands and complies with internal and external laws and regulations.
- Perform consistent risk assessments to recognize areas where the company may be vulnerable to non-compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments by conducting spot checks and audits to ensure organization-wide compliance.
- Ensure the organization has a clearly defined program for complying with national laws.
- Report regularly to management on the organisation’s compliance status with laws and regulations.
- Immediately report non-compliance situations and develop realistic plans to address them.
- Coordinate with management to identify risks, implement policies, and monitor adherence to laws and regulations.
- Investigate and report any violations of laws or regulations to management.
- Develop, update, and enforce internal policies, fostering a strong culture of compliance and ethical behavior throughout the organisation.
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrable, relevant experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, laws, and regulations in Nigeria
- Proven experience developing and executing compliance management techniques
- Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, investigations, and provide actionable strategies
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex legal language and evaluate risk
- Excellent communication skills for training, reporting, and articulating regulations to diverse audiences
- High ethical standards, acting as a moral compass and making unbiased decisions under pressure
- Proactive learner, adaptable to new requirements in data privacy, cybersecurity, and ESG
- Ability to influence stakeholders and coordinate with other departments to embed compliance into business processes
- Familiarity with compliance management software, data analysis tools, and relevant IT systems
